Dr Halis Altun graduated from the Department of Electronics and Communication Engineering of Yıldız Technical University in 1991. He was granted Overseas Postgraduate Student Scholarship by Council of Higher Education in 1993. He completed his PhD in 1999 at University of Nottingham, UK. His PhD topic was to investigate the acoustic-to-articulatory mapping problem to effectively determine the parameters of an articulatory speech synthesizer using artificial neural networks. After completing his PhD, Dr Altun served as Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical-Electronics, Nigde University, Turkey. In 2006, Dr Altun was in UK for a postdoctoral visit to conduct a research on parameter selection and decision fusion techniques for emotion detection from speech signals at Machine Learning Group (ISIS) leading by Prof. John Shawe Taylor of Southampton University. The first part of research has been carried out in ISIS group and the last part of research has been completed at Computer Science of University College of London. Dr Altun established a research group at Nigde University, focusing on Implementation of Signal Processing and Pattern Recognition Techniques on Embedded Systems, especially on FPGA (Field Programming Gate Arrays) for real-time applications. In general, his research interest comprises diverse application areas of speech and image processing using soft computing techniques such as artificial neural networks, genetic algorithm, particle swarm and taboo search and their real-time implementation. He has also published several papers on Engineering Education. Between 2011-2015, Dr Altun acted as Head of Computer Engineering Department, Mevlana University, Turkey. He was later Head of Electrical&Electroncs Engineering Department of KTO Karatay University between 2015-2017.
ASSOC. PROF. İbrahim MAHARIQ

Mahariq took his B.Sc. degree from department of electrical and computer engineering / Palestine Polytechnic University in 2003 (First rank). He worked there as teaching assistant from 2003-2005. He received the M.Sc. in Design of Electrical Machines from department of electrical and electronics engineering/Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara, Turkey. Mahariq has two doctorates; one from the department of Engineering Sciences (Computational Electromagnetics), July 2014, Middle East Technical University. The second PhD was from Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Aug 2017, TOBB Economic and Technology University. Mahariq was granted TUBITAK scholarship for his PhD studies for five years. He worked on several machine design projects during the period 2007-2011 using Finite Element Method. He has been with the University of Turkish Aeronautical Association, Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering as an assistant professor.
ASSIST. PROF. Ertan ZENCİR

Dr. Ertan Zencir received his BSc and MSc degrees both from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University in 1995 and 1997, respectively. He completed his PhD study in the Electrical Engineering Department of Syracuse University (Syracuse, New York, USA) in 2003. Prior to PhD dissertation research, he designed and implemented a low-power monolithic microwave wideband amplifier and a ground penetrating UHF radar antenna for U.S. Air Force Research Laboratories (Air Force Research Labs, AFOSR, Rome, New York, USA). During his dissertation period, he carried out the design of an integrated communication receiver that targeted miniaturization of robot rollers sent to Mars as research associate in the NASA project titled “Low Power SOI (Silicon-on-Insulator) CMOS Transceiver Technology in support of NASA planetary robotic mission” funded by NASA Jet Propulsion Laboratories (Pasadena, California, USA). He received the NASA Group Achievement Award of Honor (2006) for his leading work and technology contributions in this project. After PhD from 2004 to 2005 he worked as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical Engineering department of University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA) doing Research and teaching on RF/Analog integrated circuits. He cut his teeth working as a senior RFIC design engineer on CMOS/BiCMOS cellular RF transceiver design for CDMA cellular standard in Nokia Mobile Phones’ RF integrated circuits design group in his first industrial experience from 2005 to 2006. From 2006 to 2011, he worked as Principle Design Scientist on analog, digital integrated circuit and system design for satellite receivers, MoCA (Multimedia over Cable Alliance) transceivers in the Broadband RF integrated circuits group of Broadcom Corp (Irvine, CA, USA). He was the system leader at Broadcom for industry’s first 40-nm CMOS direct-sampling (Analog-to-Digital Converter based) full-band capture switching module chip (Broadcom product with code BCM4550). Between 2011 and 2012, he worked as a consultant at TUBITAK Space Technologies Research Institute. He published SCI/IEEE journal articles and SCI/IEEE conference papers in the field of analog and RF integrated circuit design and is the co-inventor of a U.S. patent.
Since September 2012, he has been working as an Assistant Professor in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of University of Turkish Aeronautical Association Faculty of Engineering. His research interests include energy-efficient communication circuits, wired and wireless communication transceiver architectures, energy-efficient RF & Analog CMOS/BiCMOS integrated circuits, bio-integrated circuits, mm-wave and THz integrated circuits and monolithic microwave integrated circuits.
ASSIST. PROF. Hasan AKSOY

Dr. Aksoy was graduated from Faculty of Electrical & Electronic Engineering of Aleppo University in 1998. He got a Diploma of Higher Studies in Electronic Engineering from the same university in 1999. Then he moved to Paul Sabatier University in France where he obtained his Master and PhD degree in Microelectronic and Microsystems Circuit design in 2003 and 2007.During his work at French National scientific research center (LAAS-CNRS), he involved in the Big European SENSATION project ( Advanced Sensor development for attention, stress, vigilance and sleep) in cooperation with many laboratories in France, Sweden and Greece.
In Jan. 2008, he began working as an assistant professor at Aleppo University (Electronic Engineering Department). After that, he was delegated to faculty of Engineering and Technology of Mamoun University for Science and Technology in 2012 where he worked at Computer system Engineering Department.
Since 2014, he is working as an assistant professor in EEE department of University of Turkish Aeronautical Association.
ASSIST. PROF. Özgür KELEKÇİ

Dr. Özgür Kelekçi received his BSc degree from Istanbul Technical University Electronics and Telecommunication Department, MSc degree from Gebze Institute of Technology Electronics Engineering department and PhD degree from Gazi University Physics department in 2002, 2005 and 2011 respectively. He worked as a full time researcher in Bilkent University Nanotechnology Research Center through several TUBİTAK projects during his PhD. He has done postdoctoral research on physical properties of graphene material in Sejong University (Seoul) and was supported by the funds from South Korean Government. He has worked as an assistant professor in Siirt University Computer Engineering department. After that he has continued his research in METU physics department’s mathematical physics branch and also in ITU mathematics department. He has published 14 SCI papers in different research fields and has presented his research in several national and international conferences. His recent research is including dualities and geometric structures in supersymmetric gravity theories.
ASSIST. PROF. Esra KARAOĞLU

Dr. Esra Karaoğlu received her BSc degrees from the Department of Mathematics of Ankara University in 2009 and from the Department of Economics of Anadolu University in 2013. She completed her MSc and PhD study in the Mathematics Department of TOBB University of Economics and Technology (Ankara, Turkey) in 2011 and 2016, respectively. Throughout these graduate programs, she assisted several courses at TOBB ETU. From 2014 to 2015,she has got one year fellowship from TUBITAK and has been a visiting scholar in Department of Mathematics, University of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. Since September of 2017, she has been working as an Assistant Professor at the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at University of Turkish Aeronautical Association.
ASSIST. PROF. TAYFUN OKAN – VICE CHAIR OF DEPARTMENT

Dr. Tayfun OKAN received his BSc degree from Baskent University Electrical and Electronic Engineering Department in 2009. He took his MSc and PhD degrees from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department/ Gazi University in 2012 and 2018, respectively. Between 2012 and 2018, Tayfun worked as a Lecturer in University of Turkish Aeronautical Association. Currently he is working as an assistant professor.
His main research areas are radar systems, antenna theory, radiation pattern analysis, high frequency techniques and he has participated international conferences and published articles in international journal in related areas.
ASSIST. PROF. MEHMET ALİ OLPAK

Dr. Olpak has received his bachelor’s, master’s and Ph. D. degrees in 2008, 2010 and 2016, respectively, from the Department of Physics, Middle East Technical University. His master’s thesis is on the quantization of geometrically constrained systems, supervised by Prof. Dr. Bayram Tekin. His Ph. D. thesis is on the examination of the coupling of positive parity axial-vector heavy quarkonia to scalar and vector mesons within the framework of QCD sum rules, supervised by Prof. Dr. Altuğ Özpineci. His studies continues in the fields of theory and phenomenology of high energy physics.
Research Assistant Gülce TURHAN

Gülce TURHAN received her BSc degree from the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of Eskişehir Osmangazi University in 2013. She worked on Tubitak projects after graduation in industry. She continues her studies for her Master’s Degree in Electrical Engineering Department of Middle East Technical University.
Since September 2015, she has been working as a Research Assistant in the Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department of University of Turkish Aeronautical Association Faculty of Engineering.
